TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Professor of Art: 2013-Present  University of North Georgia, Gainesville, Georgia.

  • Designed newly approved courses ART 4730 Advanced Wheel-Throwing, ART 4740 Advanced Hand Building, ART 4720 Ceramic Systems, and ART 4710 Ceramic Materials
  • Developed and taught UNG’s first Hybrid Art Appreciation courses
  • In conjunction with English Professor, designed learning community combining Multicultural Literature and Art Appreciation
  • Participate in student Portfolio Reviews and Senior Proposals
  • Participate in senior exhibition defenses
  • Teach students how to create objects with various art processes, how to use equipment safely, and how to present their work publicly

  • Responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the studio including kiln firing, glaze mixing, and supply inventory
  • Trained and supervised studio volunteers 

Summer Assistant: 2002-2003.Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine 

  • Assisted in the general operations of the summer workshops
  • Responsibilities included leading guest orientations, supervising work study students, addressing any and all workshop needs, and installing artist exhibitions

Ceramics and Sculpture Program Coordinator: 1995-1999Ann Arbor Art Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan

  • Managed ceramics studio that served over 150 students per term
  • Created ceramics and sculpture courses and course descriptions in conjunction with instructors and the Education Director
  • Hired and trained instructors and volunteers
  • Addressed the needs of all students
  • Established efficient facility operations and safety procedures
